Similar Moves and Variations

A Spin Dash is an attack used primarily by Sonic the Hedgehog. The user crouches down and begins spinning rapidly on the spot, before launching themselves across the ground at a super fast rate, either to attack an enemy, or to simply travel quickly.

Description

When performing the Spin Dash, the user curls up into a tight concussive ball or cutting dish and homes in on their target with a high-speed Spin Attack, whether through the air or across the ground, where they deal incredible damage. The user can also crouch down and start charging up the Spin Dash from a stationary position by spinning rapidly on the spot before taking off at a super fast rate. The move can be used for both attacking foes and simply traveling at high speeds.

Variants

The Croquette Bomber is a combination move exclusive to Sonic and Amy Rose. When performing this move, Sonic performs a Spin Dash, and Amy Rose swings and hits Sonic with her Piko Hammer, sending him flying with a strong force.

Background Information

  • The Spin Attack was based on the technique of the same name in the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series. It was unnamed in the comic, but is considered tier 2 canon by this site's canon policy, as it does not contradict already established canon from tier 1.
  • The Spin Dash was introduced in the 16-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, used by both Sonic and Tails. The attack has become a staple of most subsequent games, even being incorporated into certain ports of the original Sonic the Hedgehog game.
