Hello. It has come to my attention that you have been copying material directly from the Sonic News Network. I should inform you that you cannot do this without posting a template at the top of such pages informing readers that the information was taken from SNN. If you fail to do so, I may be forced to contact Fandom staff directly.
I believe we have also copied. I don’t mind our two wikis sharing info, especially since it is the same comic. I believe we tell things a bit differently anyway, but also we use some stuff that isn’t really worth rewording too heavily after being copied. For example, SNN has a great summary of Metal Sonic’s history that tells his time as Neo Metal Sonic beautifully while being brief. I remember referring to it for our article. I also change the present tense to past tense and adjust some thing here and there, so it isn’t always a 1 to 1 copy. The images that I have been acquiring from the comics have also been getting uploaded to SNN which I am also ok with. Again, I don’t mind us sharing some stuff as long as overall we are different. What do you think?
It's possible, as all Fandom wikis share the same licensing, but proper credit needs to be given. We have templates like this to let people know where the content originally came from and we remove it when we think a page is sufficiently removed from the original. Personally, I prefer SNNs pages be as original as possible, but I don't mind too much if we take from other wikis or vice versa, provided it's done through the proper means.
How did you find a clean Neo Metal Sonic image for his infobox? In the original comic, there is a speech balloon covering a part of him, and his shoes are out of shot, so you could not have cropped it from the comics.
I would like to voice my opposition to the format that permits the inclusion of content exclusive to the games on this wiki. I understand that you admins and b-krats have discussed this matter internally, but this is something I think is, for a better lack of words, a really bad move. First of all, you are including content that have yet to be discussed in the comics, and secondly, you are trying to make articles for things that have not even been mentioned (why add a link to Devil Doom who has not even been mentioned or is going to be mentioned in the near future?).
Now, I can understand that you want to elaborate on the video game side of things because they are a part of the comics, but going to the extend of fleshing out the articles here on the wiki with information not yet discussed in the comics and attempting to add articles on stuff that has yet to be even mentioned is unprofessional, bad strategy and rash. Finally, and I apologize in advance for being so rude, how can you call this a IDW Sonic wiki when you are going to add content not presented in the comic yet?
I try not to be a bad guy or start edit wars, I only try to be logical. And writing about stuff that has yet to be in the comics seems like a very illogical move. I really want you guys to reconsider what you are doing. Don't try to rush this kind of thing. Just stick to what the comics present and don't dig deeper into it than what the comics have shown.
We are trying to figure out the best method. We want to shorten the video game content presented in the articles down to what is only discussed in the comics. What I put in needs work and needs to be shortened. It is not the final version, but something for all of us to look at and work at. We want a way to mention each game without going into too much detail.
I see you've changed the Infoboxes again, except now they're no longer Portable Infoboxes, and they cannot be converted into Portable Inboxes without really messing up their layout.
Please forgive me if I sound rude, I know you've worked hard on them, but must we use these Infoboxes? It just a little more convenient to use the other ones instead. Perhaps I can modify the others (which are already Portable Infoboxes) to resemble more like the ones.
No offense taken. What exactly do you mean by portable? I’ll Be discussing it with the other mods on Twitter. If you want you can change one of the issues back to the old info box and fool around with the style. We can all figure out as a team which works best for the site going forward.
Firstly, great job with the new character infoboxes. I was meaning to create those myself eventually but just haven't gotten around to it.
Secondly, about the comic infoboxes. We don't have to set it up like that anymore. There's already navigation prompts on the infobox and I've modified the rules to reflect how those infobox templates are set up.
I understand, but as I was discussing with the other admins on Twitter, we decided to use both, with the navigation prompts in the infobox serving as a previous and next issue for the series, and the navigation prompts at the top of the page serving as both easy access as soon as the page loads as well as being easily moddifiable via html to direct readers to the next chronological issue for when/if the comic starts expanding to spinoffs and specials like free comic book day issues and us expanding on the reasoning in a new section of issue articles called "Chronology", which may only be used in these circumstances where the top navigation would tell the reader to see the Chronology section below. I deleted the navigation in the template, but with that in mind, we can bring it back and use both like planned.
I see. If that is what was decided, I won't remove it again. However, I would appreciate if the infobox navigation also remained for the purposes you've told me here and for a small personal sense of accomplishment (admittedly, it was the first time I've added navigation to a infobox template before).
Although I still don't see why we need to use tabbers in the infobox rather than gallery, since the latter is easier to use and is recommended.
Ok, I brought it back. As for tabber, I used it because I was testing to see if it worked differently, and then I realized they worked exactly the same, or seemingly at least, so I didn't bother changing it back. Did you notice a difference?
There's no difference. The new way is just a little easier to use as it requires less typing. You can do it the old way if you want, but it's no different. Just a benefit of using portable infoxes. Also, thank you for bringing back infobox navigation :).
