The Egg Viper was a flying serpentine mech created and used by Dr. Eggman.

History[]

First usage[]

Sonic vs Egg Viper

Sonic defeats the Egg Viper.

At some point in the recent past, a battle happened between Sonic the Hedgehog and Dr. Eggman. This time, Eggman was piloting the Egg Viper mech, but Sonic defeated the villain.[1] (StH: #1)

Test Run[]

When Sonic, Tails and Amy Rose infiltrated Dr. Eggman's testing facility, they had to contend with various Quasi-Badniks and a group of unmanned Egg Viper mechs. As well as the version Sonic had once fought in the past, there were three other units which each possessed a different arsenal of weapons. Eggman was able to control three of the Egg Vipers at once as he attempted to destroy the heroes. However, the untimely intervention of Tangle the Lemur allowed them to gain the upper hand and they soon managed to disable the mechs.

Variants[]

Red Variant[]

RedEggViper

The original version of the Egg Viper was primarily red in coloration and required a pilot to operate it. Dr. Eggman first used this mech against Sonic some time before the War. It was armed with a heavy laser cannon on its main body and laser emitters on each segment of its tail. On either side of the body was a spike-covered device that functioned much like a spinning top; these weapons could be detached and would skate about on a single spike, skewering enemies with their radial spikes.

Yellow Variant[]

ElectricEggViper

The yellow variant was the same size and shape of the original red variant, but yellow in coloration. Instead of lasers, it cast arcs of high-voltage electricity from its emitters. It also possessed the same spinning-top weapons as the original Egg Viper. When Sonic and his friends fought against it, Amy used her Piko-Piko Hammer to slam one of the mech's tops back at it and disable it long enough for Sonic to attack its cockpit.

Green Variant[]

GreenEggViper

The green variant was the same size as the original Egg Viper and of similar shape, though it did not carry the spinning-top weapons of the original. In place of the tops was a large fan that assisted the mech with maneuvering and could be used to fire powerful blasts of air to blow enemies away. The cannon on its front could also spray cloudy mist to reduce visibility.

Blue Variant[]

EggViperBlue

The blue variant is of similar size and shape as the others, though its primary weapons are a pair of long hoses that can blast streams of water at high pressure. When fighting this machine, Sonic used the hoses to his advantage by tying them around the mech's body.

Background Information[]

  • The Egg Viper was based on the machine of the same name in the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series, where it first appeared in Sonic Adventure as the final boss of Sonic's story. It was unnamed in the comic, but is considered tier 2 canon by this site's canon policy, as it does not contradict already established canon from tier 1.
